Pokémon GO: Taken Treasures Event Sees the Return of Team GO Rocket

Attention to all trainers in Pokémon GO! It looks like Team GO Rocket is back and once again taking over. During the Taken Treasures event, they'll be appearing more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons. This event starts January 27 and runs until February 1.

What else can trainers expect for this event? For starters, they can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration. This only for the duration of the event.

Making a Debut

The event also sees the official debut of Varoom and its Evolution, Revavroom, in the game. Varoom in particular is available to hatch from 12 km Eggs. Once trainers get this Pokémon, they can use 50 Varoom Candy to evolve it to Revavroom.

Back with a Vengeance

Giovanni is also making a return and join the fights with Shadow Kyogre. You see once the event starts, the last part of the Seasonal Special Research story is going to be unlocked. Progress through this and get a Super Rocket Radar. After that it's time to chase down Giovanni.

A Pokémon Returns

Shadow Ho-Oh makes its return to the game and debuts in Shadow Raids. Those lucky enough may even get the chance to encounter a Shiny version. In particular, Shadow Ho-Oh—if is set to appear in five-star Shadow Raids from January 27 at 6:00 a.m. (local time) to January 28 at 10:00 p.m. (local time).

Shadow Pokémon

Team GO Rocket Grunts, along with their leaders Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo, are using Shadow Pokémon. it's time for trainers to once again help Spark, Blanche, and Candela while also rescuing the Shadow Pokémon. Team GO Rocket has also turned some Pokémon into Shadow Pokémon. Save these Shadow Pokémon by defeating the Team GO Rocket Grunts:

  • Shadow Piplup
  • Shadow Croagunk
  • Shadow Dwebble
  • Shadow Ferroseed
