Annihilape to Debut in Pokémon GO via Raging Battles

Get ready to battle. Niantic

In case you didn't know, there's going to be a week full of battles in Pokémon GO. This is to celebrate the arrival of the Rage Monkey Pokémon to the game. From January 19 to January 24, all trainers are invited to join Raging Battles. In this event, Annihilape makes its official debut.

For the chance to get Annihilape, trainers need to defeat 30 Ghost-type or Psychic-type Pokémon in battle while having Primeape as their buddy. Take note that trainers don't need to actually defeat these Pokémon using Primeape. Anyway, once that's done it becomes possible to evolve Primeape into Annihilape.

During Raging Battles, Team GO Rocket is going to appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons. In addition, Throh and Sawk both appear in the wild during the event, regardless of the location.

What else can trainers look forward to in the event? These include:

  • These Pokémon appear more frequently in the wild:
    • Mankey
    • Machop
    • Lickitung
    • Gligar
    • Sableye

Timeless Travels

From January 18 at 10:00 a.m. (local time) to January 24 at 8:00 p.m. (local time), trainers can also join the GO Battle Week: Timeless Travels. During this period, trainers can obtain 4× Stardust from win rewards. Noe that this doesn't include the end-of-set rewards and won't stack with the 4× Stardust bonus in January). The maximum number of sets trainers can play per day is increased from five to 10, for a total of 50 battles, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m., local time.

There's also going to be a free battle-themed Timed Research where the rewards include the avatar item Ingo-Style Hat. Paid battle-themed Timed Research is also available for $1. In this one, rewards include Stardust, Rare Candy, and one Star Piece.

Meanwhile, for $2 trainers can access event-exclusive Timed Research. Those who complete the research tasks get to earn three Rare Candy, one Rocket Radar, Stardust, and even two Premium Battle Passes.
