Pokémon GO Reveals What's Coming in January

Things appear to be looking good for Pokémon GO as the game already released plans for January 2022. There are the usual activities that can be expected each month and some new ones. Today, we'll take a quick look into some of them.

Let's start with the Weekly 1 PokéCoin bundles. These are available each Monday in January and contain a Remote Raid Pass along with other items. Then, there's the January Research Breakthrough from January 1 to February 1. Those who can finish it get to encounter Onix and Steelix Mega Energy.

    • January 15 to January 24
      • Genesect (Shock Drive)
        • Knows the attack Techno Blast
    • January 24 to February 1
      • Regice

    • Until January 7
      • Mega Abomasnow
    • January 7 to February 1
      • Mega Aerodactyl
  • Raid Hours (Happens from 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., local time)
    • January 5: Kyurem
    • January 12: Heatran
    • January 19: Genesect (Shock Drive)
    • January 26: Regice
  • Spotlight Hours (Every 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., local time)
    • January 4
      • Pokémon: Solosis
      • Special Bonus: 2X Transfer Candy
    • January 11
      • Pokémon: Diglett
      • Special Bonus: 2X Catch Stardust
    • January 18
      • Pokémon: Plusle
      • Special Bonus: 2X Catch Candy

Here are some of the new events that trainers can look forward to:

  • New Year’s Event
    • December 31 to January 4
    • Welcome the new year with Pokémon in new costumes and snazzy new avatar items.
  • Mountains of Power
    • January 7 to January 13
    • Work with Spark to activate the second part of the mysterious door by going through terrain that resembles mountains in regions like Johto and Sinnoh.
  • Electric- and Steel-themed event inspired by the Kanto Power Plant
    • January 19 to February 1
    • Continue to work with Spark to gather some electrifying Pokémon to activate the final part of the mysterious door.
    • Be careful since some nefarious forces may have learned about this door and the power it may contain.

January Community Day

Of course, the month wouldn’t be complete without Community Day. For January 2022, it's going to be on January 16 featuring Spheal. Trainers who evolve it to Sealeo and then Walrein get one that knows the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and the Fast Attack Powder Snow. Learn more about it here.
