Region-exclusive Pokémon are some of the rarest in Pokémon Go and unless you travel to these regions you won’t be able to capture these Pokémon, not even hatch them in eggs.

However, now that the Gen 2 update is live for Pokémon Go every trainer is wondering whether there will be more region-exclusive Pokémon that they won’t be able to capture.

While it is still a tad early to tell, it seems that only one Pokémon is region-exclusive in Gen 2 and that is Heracross.

The Bug and Fighting-type Pokémon was one of the first reported Pokémon caught but it became clear that it was localized in the Central America region and to southern Florida.

The Silph Road has actually come up with a map that shows where the border that separates the Tauros region (most of North America) and Heracross region is and you can check the map below.

When Pokémon Go was first released in 2016 there were four region-exclusive Pokémon, Farfetch’d, Tauros, Mr. Mime and Kangaskhan, but it looks that Heracross is the only one relegated to one region.

Other Pokémon like Delibird and Smeargle are not available in the Pokémon Go Gen 2 update so if you’re looking for those you won’t find them until Niantic adds them into the game in a future update.

The rest of the Johto Region Pokémon seem to be available via capture or hatching of an egg so go out and try and catch ‘em all, again.

Is there any other Pokémon you believe to be region-exclusive? If you captured Heracross let us know where you found it in the comments section below.
