Since its release, Pokémon Go has been offered numerous unique gaming experiences, and one of these has been Community Day. This is an event where one day a month all Trainers are encouraged to go out and play together. For February's Community Day, Trainers are able to get even more involved, as they can vote to decide the featured Pokémon for the month.

The Announcement of the Community Day candidates was made last January 22. For the upcoming community day, the Pokémon to be voted on are:

  • Vulpix
    • This Pokémon was first discovered in the Kanto Region and is going to appear both in the Wild as well as Eggs.
    • Alolan Vulpix is set to appear in Field Research and Raid Battles.
    • Trainers can evolve Vulpix or Alolan Vulpix into Ninetales or Alolan Ninetales for the Charged Attack Weather Ball.
    • Ninetales learns Fire-type Weather Ball while Alolan Ninetales learns Ice-type Weather Ball—attacks.
    • Finally, Shiny Vulpix is going to be available in the game for the first time.
  • Machop
    • Trainers can evolve Machop into Machamp to get the exclusive attack Payback.
    • This Dark-type Charged Attack gives this Pokémon good coverage to deal with Psychic- and Ghost-type Pokémon that might otherwise give it trouble.
  • Rhyhorn
    • For those who Evolve Rhyhorn into Rhyperior, they get the exclusive attack Rock Wrecker.
    • Long known to be the signature of Rhyperior, this Rock-type Charged Attack is sure to be a strong addition to this Pokémon's repertoire.
    • Shiny Rhyhorn is going to be available for Trainers to encounter for the first time.
  • Dratini
    • Get to evolve Dratini to Dragonite to get the Charged Attack Superpower.
    • This strong Fighting-type attack is the newest addition to the game and and could be a strategic option for Dragonite.
      • For instance, it's a good counter against Ice-type and Rock-type Pokémon.
      • This attack could also be effective against Steel-type Pokémon that are typically weak againsy Fighting-type attacks.

Voting Day is going to be on February 1 from 12:00 a.m. to 1:59 p.m. in the local time zones.

On the same day there are going to be Field Research tasks for the different candidates. To ensure fairness, all tasks are going to have the same objectives that that need to be completed in order to be able to vote. So what is that objective going to be? Trainers need to catch 20 Pokémon and earn 200 Stardust.

The Announcement of the Winner is going to be on February 3, two days after voting. The winning Pokémon is going to be featured for February's Community Day, which is on February 22. The featured bonus is going to be 3X Catch Stardust.

As mentioned in the last update, Community Day in the northern hemisphere runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, while in the southern hemisphere, it begins at 3:00 p.m. and runs to 6:00 p.m. local time.
