Pretty much like the Sinnoh Stone, this is needed in order to evolve certain Pokémon from its respective region. For instance, you are going to need the item to evolve Lampent into Chandelure.

However, it is required that you achieve a Research Breakthrough in order to mark these tasks complete. As a refresher, you can expect to obtain at least one stamp for the first Field Research task you are able to complete each day. And as soon as you are able to gather around seven stamps, you should be able to achieve a breakthrough.

Speaking of Gen 5 Pokémon, which Niantic has previously teased, the three Unova starters are none other than Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott. These are basically the newest pocket monsters in the game. You can obtain any of them by capturing them in the wild or hatching them from certain eggs.

It is worth noting that these new Pokémon are not the only Gen 5 pocket monsters available in Pokémon Go. Pidove, Lillipup, Patrat, and more are also expected to appear in the wild. As for the likes of Litwick, Ferroseed, Deino, and others, you can obtain them by hatching 10 km eggs.

Depending on where you live, you will also have the opportunity to chance upon a handful of new region-exclusive Pokémon. Durant and Heatmor, in particular, are going to appear in the Eastern and Western hemispheres, respectively. As for the three elemental monkeys Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour, they are exclusive to certain parts of the world as well.
