There’s been a lot happening in Pokémon GO these days. With the release of the GO Beyond update next week, expect a flurry of activities to come as well. It doesn’t stop there. As the year comes to a close, it’s time to wrap up 2020 with December activities.

The month begins with Trainers getting another Research Breakthrough encounter. This starts on December 1 and lasts until January 1. Here, everyone gets the chance to encounter either Lapras or Unovan Darumaka. Catching either one rewards bonus XP.

Expect to meet some exciting Pokémon in Raids. For starters, the Legendary Pokémon Kyurem will return in the five-star raids. Don’t miss the chance to encounter this Boundary Pokémon from December 1 to January 1.

For Mega Raids, Mega Abomasnow is set to appear on December 1 at 4:00 PM EST. Mega Abomasnow will replace Mega Blastoise. That means there’s not much time for those who want to take on Mega Blastoise.

There’s also the monthly Pokémon Spotlight Hours scheduled every Tuesday at 6:00 PM, local time. Here are the details:

  • December 1:
    • Pokémon Seel
    • Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.
  • December 8
    • Pokémon Swinub
    • Earn twice the Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • December 15
    • A surprise Pokémon is going to be in the spotlight.
    • Earn twice the Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • December 22
    • Pokémon Snorunt
    • Earn twice the Candy for transferring Pokémon.
  • December 29
    • Pokémon Snover
    • Earn twice the XP for evolving Pokémon.

GO Beyond Update

The GO Beyond update launches on November 30. This means Trainers are sure to get access to December events. One change is the increase in the level cap to 50. To help Trainers level up faster, a double Catch XP bonus was made live on November 18. It will run throughout December.

Upcoming Feature Updates

Developer Niantic announced that it’s going to make managing Pokémon easier. The first is through Pokémon Tagging. Trainers can now create different colored tags and apply them to their Pokémons. These tags are useful for filtering Pokémons as well.

Niantic will enhance the usability of the Pokémon Search Function. Tapping into the search bar will open a new screen. It contains recommended search terms like Pokémon Type, Buddy Level, and even Region.

With all these, Trainers can end 2020 with a bang.
