Pokémon Go is the most popular free app on the iTunes Store right now, sitting triumphantly at the top spot with over 28,000 reviews. The servers are kind of messy right now, but that’s not stopping players from downloading the game and trying it out. It doesn't matter who you are, everyone enjoys living their childhood fantasy.

The world couldn’t ignore this game’s popularity and Nintendo’s stock has shot up in price over the last few days. Since the game launched, Nintendo’s stock has increased by 8.84 percent over two days, according to Reuters . Nintendo is now worth $23 billion, the highest its been in two months.

"It has more (monetization) than we expected; as users build their Pokémon inventory, spending money becomes needed to store, train, hatch and battle," Macquarie Securities stated in a note to clients.

That sort of growth is astonishing – everyone is investing in Nintendo right now, trying to get some of that sweet Pokémon Go goodwill. What’s more, Nintendo is also planning to release its next generation console system, the NX, sometime this year, making investor’s mouths drool even more with anticipation.

Technically, Pokémon Go wasn’t even made by Nintendo or for a Nintendo system. Niantic, an AR game company that originally created Ingress, actually developed and created the game with oversight by the house that Mario built. Pokémon Go is also the most successful Nintendo game made for something besides its consoles. Miitomo was fun for a few days, but the tedium of dressing up your little Mii gets boring really quickly.

Let’s hope Pokémon Go actually has the staying power and continues to innovate.
