Pokémon GO: Three New Pokémon to Debut in Bug Out! Event

If you're a fan of creepy crawlies, you're going to love the upcoming Bug Out! event in Pokémon GO. Get to meet the likes of Caterpie, Weedle, and Ledyba, and new Pokémon making their official debut in the game. The Bug Out! event starts from August 10 to August 16.

Bug lovers around the world can also look forward to the Collection Challenge, which features Bug-type Pokémon. Those able to complete the challenge receive the Bug Catcher Pose and 15,000 XP. For those not able to finish the challenge, don't worry since the Bug Catcher Pose will be available for purchase after the event is over at the in-game shop.

Like any event in the game, there's a bonus that everyone can enjoy, where trainers get 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.

Pokémon Debuts

Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt are debuting in the game. Once you get Grubbin, just spend 25 Grubbin Candy and evolve it to Charjabug. Then when you're near an active Magnetic Lure Module, use 100 Grubbin Candy to evolve Charjabug into Vikavolt.

Another Pokémon making its debut is Mega Scizor. It's going to make its presence felt in Mega Raids. Meanwhile, those lucky enough have the chance to encounter a Shiny one.

Bonuses for Groups

One of the good features of Pokémon GO is being able to work together with other trainers. In the Bug Out! event, working together to unlock additional bonuses. If at least three trainers are joining an in-person Raid Battle, even more of a certain wild Bug-type Pokémon will appear for 15 minutes in a 300-meter radius around the Gym hosting the raid. The Pokémon that appear in greater numbers change each day, which are:

  • August 10: Wurmple
  • August 11: Caterpie
  • August 12: Spinarak
  • August 13: Venipede
  • August 14: Kricketot
  • August 15: Weedle
  • August 16: Ledyba
