Some sleuthy dataminers were able to find a new feature coming to Pokémon Go . Over at the PokémonGoHub , they have a full list of everything currently hiding in the game’s code, which might come as soon as the next update. If you understand code, go and check Aeon Lucid on POGOProtos , who has all the details, but here’s how the Buddy System will work.

The Buddy System will allow players to take Pokémon for walks, which will award you with candy. You can only take one Pokémon for a walk at a time; sorry, you won’t be able to powerfarm eight Vaporeons at once. We still don’t know how long you will have to walk your Pokémon or how much candy you get, but we do know that there will likely be a daily limit on candy.

There are four types of Pokémon hiding in the code right now for the Buddy System: medium size, big size, flying next to you and resting on your shoulder. These categories correspond to how the Pokémon will appear next to your avatar, since a Caterpie can’t just float through the air like a Spearow. That would be silly.

This will be a great update for Pokémon Go . Users have have been complaining on reddit that the game is getting boring and stale, with little to do when Pokémon aren’t nearby. Now you can farm eggs and candies at the same time, making leveling that much easier. Here’s what one reddit user thinks of the new Buddy System:

You might even be able to evolve your starter Pokémon with the Buddy System. Remember that Charmander you got at level one but was so bad you never touched it? Now you can finally get a Charizard, even if you’ve never seen another Charmander in the wild.

Are you excited for what the Buddy System might bring to Pokémon Go ? Tell us in the comments!
