Now on the Switch.
Now on the Switch. Blizzard

Overwatch Legendary Edition has officially arrived for the Nintendo Switch. Switch players can now enjoy content updates, as well as gameplay enhancements, for all three years that Overwatch has been available on other platforms. This highly acclaimed team shooter from Blizzard comes with 31 heroes and a number of casual and competitive modes set across 28 unique locations.

Indeed, Switch players who download the game get to experience all the additions made to the game so far. They get the chance to experience both the newest hero, and even the latest Havana locale. Players can even try the latest Escort map or even make use of the powerful, yet easy-to-use game building tool: the Workshop.

That's not all that's in store for Switch players. They can also make use of the console's gyroscopic motion controls to experience Overwatch in a whole new way. Tilting the Joy-Con controllers lets players guide Junkrat’s RIP-Tire to achieve maximum mayhem. They can even use motion controls to go to the sky and rain fire on their enemies as Pharah.

Overall, the Overwatch Legendary Edition includes:

  • Play as 31 Unique Heroes
    • Choose from a diverse and ever-expanding roster of heroes from around the globe.
    • Zip across enemy lines as Tracer or heal your team from afar with Ana’s Biotic Rifle.
    • Try out the latest hero to join the fight and manipulate gravity as the astrophysicist Sigma.
  • Battle Across the World With Your Friends
    • Capture control points, push payloads, and complete objectives across 28 international locations — wherever you have internet access.
  • Join Forces in 6v6 Game Modes
    • Jump into Quick Play to get matched up against players of similar skill.
    • Play vs. AI in multiple difficulty settings.
    • Put your skills to the ultimate test in Competitive Play to earn seasonal ranks and rewards.
  • Discover New Ways to Play
    • Explore the Arcade or Game Browser to find matches with unique rulesets.
    • Unleash your creativity in the Workshop and use powerful scripting tools to build elaborate custom games that can be shared and played on any platform.

Blizzard Entertainment President J. Allen Brack said in a statement that whether at home or on the go, Blizzard is excited to welcome new players to the ever-evolving Overwatch universe. He went on to say that the release of the game "reflects more than three years of ongoing development on Overwatch, and we can’t think of a better way to introduce the game to Nintendo Switch players.”

Overwatch Legendary Edition for Nintendo Switch is available now as a boxed version and digital version via the Nintendo eShop, both for a suggested price of $39.99. Keep in mind that the "physical" boxed version is more or less just a box with a download code in it. Both versions come with 15 bonus skins and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online individual membership. Learn more about Overwatch Legendary Edition on Nintendo Switch here.
