The long wait is finally over! The annual holiday seasonal event for Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch 2 is here. The Winter Wonderland event is now live, introducing a ton of fun stuff.

Blizzard announced the Winter Wonderland event on the official Overwatch 2 Twitter page. The update introduces a trio of wintry arcade modes and welcomes a brand-new batch of event-themed cosmetics. The exciting part of the event is the fact that players can get one of these cosmetics for free!

Yes, that is right – the Ice Queen skin for Brigitte is free! Players just simply need to complete challenges in the annual holiday event’s game modes.

Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland runs from December 13, 2022 to January 4, 2023. The update is also bringing back four game modes, namely: Freezethaw Elimination, Mei's Snowball Offensive, Snowball Deathmatch, and Yeti Hunter.

Veteran players are for sure familiar with the aforementioned game modes. As for new players, these offer a fresh incentive to the game. Basically, there are two Mei-themed 6v6 Elimination and 8-player FFA Deathmatch game modes – all with snowballs!

There is also a 5v1 mode where five Meis take on a single meat-snatching Winston. Lastly, there is the 4v4 freeze tag mode where Overwatch 2 players are tasked to eliminate their opponents by freezing them. But in order for their teammates to be kept alive, they have to be thawed.

All Overwatch 2 players who join those arcade modes can unlock a batch of Christmas tree ornament-themed sprays. More importantly, they are going to get access to the Epic-tier Brigette Ice Queen skin.

It is worth noting that at least six Winter Wonderland challenges have to be completed. Only by doing so are players able to unlock the new Brigette skin. These event challenges are the following:

  • Warmhearted - Thaw 15 allies in Freezethaw Elimination
  • Caught A Cold - Catch 6 snowballs in Snowball Deathmatch
  • Abominable - Win a game in Yeti Hunter as a Yeti
  • Block of Ice - Block a snowball with Mei’s ice wall
  • Unthawed - Win a game in Freezethaw Elimination
  • Snowstorm - Win a game in Snowball Deathmatch
  • Monster Hunter - Win a game in Yeti Hunter as Mei
  • Time for Cocoa - Win a game in Mei’s Snowball Offensive

The Overwatch 2 Winter Wonderland event also brings a series of new skins, one of which is the gingerbread-inspired design for Bastion, the “hu tou mao” skin for Mei, and the ice angel skin for Echo. These cosmetics are available in the in-game store and are purchasable using Overwatch coins.
