Currently in its Steam Early Access phase, musical 3D platformer Newt One has just announced that it will soon be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The news of its launch came from publisher DevNAri.
Developer Whitethorn Digital’s Newt One revolves around the land of Groovy Hue, a realm which was once full and bursting with music and color until the Great Slumber occurred. Players will assume control of the charming Newt, who they will need to guide to restore music, life, and color to the now somber land.
Newt One's launch trailer provides a sneak peek as to what it can offer for those who have not played It on Steam Early Access. You control Newt as you wander around Groovy Hue, bringing color whereever you go and music that adapts to the environment you are in. Newt One takes pride In its nonviolent approach to platforming gaming, which is evident In the trailer as the gameplay mostly focuses on a zen approach with players just wandering and collecting objectives while taking in the chill scenery and relaxing music. All of this is punctuated by a challenging puzzle here and there. Aside from its cute and colorful art style and enjoyable 3D platforming mechanics, Newt One also currently provides four unique worlds with six levels each, all for you to shower with music and color.
This seems like a fun title to just mess around with if you’re looking for a relaxing time with no real stress or tension to speak of. The game’s colorful mechanics and upbeat sounds also feel very therapeutic, giving me those Slime Rancher vibes – great game by the way, check that one out as well.
All of that said, it has not garnered enough reviews on its Steam page to warrant a rating. No information is available yet for us to gauge its charm on the general audience, but Newt One already seems like a promising enough indie title, garnering multiple awards way before its Steam debut. These awards mostly came from gaming events held in Minnesota, where the two-man team from DevNAri is located.
Newt One will prance its way on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on August 30 for $9.99.
