A new Crash Bandicoot game in development and has a planned release next year. This information comes from an unlikely source: the Licensing Source Book Europe for Spring 2018.

The Licensing Source Book is an overview of children's entertainment, ranging from toys to TV shows and video games. The full book can be read here, but the notable Crash Bandicoot information can be found on page 97.

Max Argulle, a licensing manager for company GB eye, was quoted in the Book talking about popular gaming brands. When speaking about Crash Bandicoot, Argulle said “The new game was a huge success at retail with no marketing spend. Next year it will be going broader (Switch and PC) and there will be another game in 2019. Activision have a five year plan for this and GB eye is delighted to be fully on board for all products.”

While Argulle is not an official rep from Activision, he does seem to be a fairly solid source that would have accurate inside information. Based on the wording, it seems like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will be releasing for PC and Switch later this year. This would be a smart move because, as Argulle said, the N. Sane Trilogy sold remarkably well. According to VGChartz, the game has sold 3.25 million copies on PS4 alone.

A PC release would also line up with previous rumors that have floated up about Crash Bandicoot. A UI artist for Crash Bandicoot had uploaded a clip of the remaster with Xbox One button prompts. It’s possible it was uploaded as an experiment, but this could also be some early PC footage using an Xbox controller layout.

As for the new game, it’s best to wait until Activision makes an official announcement before getting too excited. While this seems to be from someone in the know, game development can always run into snags or delays. It’s possible a new game is coming, but might get pushed to 2020, or even get cancelled during development.

So what do you think? Are you excited to hear about more Crash Bandicoot coming in the future? If this proves to be real, when do you think Activision will make an announcement? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
