After a bit of a delay, Final Fantasy XIV finally launched its fourth expansion Endwalker. It's seen by many as the end to the saga of Hydaelyn and Zodiark, which started when the game was first launched. Players though don't need to be sad since this also means the start of a new adventure.
This was confirmed by none other than Producer-Director Naoki Yoshida who said in a post that they've already started "creating new journeys" for everyone. A new journey is expected considering that the game has been available for more than 10 years. That is if you count the original version which has since been changed to the version that everyone now loves. For Yoshida though, they hope to be in operation for 10 more years and it's all going to start with Patch 6.1.
Endwalker Expansion
It was in early December when the Endwalker expansion was released. One of the new additions that players expected was the introduction of the male Viera race. There's also a new quest, new cities, and new field areas. Learn more about it here.
A new number of patches has since been released with the latest one, Patch 6.05. The highlight of that update was the new feature in the Pandæmonium: Asphodelos raid dungeon. Known as the Savage mode, it is for players who are looking for a real challenge. That’s because the enemies are not only stronger but also have new mechanics that if players can't avoid, could result in their party being killed in one shot. There are some requirements to enter the mode, but they're waived when registering as a full eight-man party.
Then there's The Excitatron 6000. This dungeon can be accessed after finding and opening treasure coffers obtained from kumbhiraskin treasure maps. In this one, players can see if they're lucky enough to get priceless treasures from the dungeon. Read more about the new patch here.
New Merch
In addition to a new adventure and new patch, players can also look forward to getting new merch. Panasonic revealed the special FFXIV Online Edition of the Wearable Immersive Gaming Speaker System or WIGS, now available for purchase. It has the same features as the original SC-GN01 but comes with a custom package and body design. Learn more about this new product here.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
