The Mujjo Carry-On Folio Sleeve is one of those MacBook accessories that doesn’t make a whole lot of sense when you first see it on the product page. But once you get it in your hands, or more specifically put your hand through its side handle, it makes sense.
While we’ve reviewed Mujjo iPhone cases before, this is the first MacBook sleeve we’ve seen from Mujjo. Recently released, the Carry-On Folio Sleeve is different from the other sort of MacBook sleeves Mujjo offers, with two zippers on top instead of a clasp and, of course, the side handle.
The side handle is why the Carry-On Folio Sleeve stands apart. While their other sleeves are more like the traditional carrying cases that get shoved into backpacks, the best way to describe how this sleeve comes across is comparing it to how you feel when you walk into a job interview, having heeded someone’s auntly advice, with a leather portfolio holding your resume and a notepad/pen to pretend to take notes with.
It feels like something you wouldn’t mind walking around holding if you needed to — a clutch purse for your MacBook, miscellaneous business cards and notes on scraps of paper.
The inside of the Carry-On Folio Sleeve contains three pockets, visible above. The smallest pocket is aptly sized for credit cards and key cards, while the other two pockets are more of a hot dog/hamburger paper folding situation. The hot dog shaped pocket seems perfect for a pen or three, while the hamburger pocket fits a small notepad. The MacBook rests against these pockets while the sleeve is zipped shut.
The front of the Carry-On Folio Sleeve is leather — premium quality, signature, vegetable-tanned leather according to Mujjo, and it does smell like it in your hands. The same wool felt lining inside the sleeve is used for its back side, giving your MacBook a soft cushion it can sit on for coffee shops tables. It provides a nice, “right” way to hold the case when you’re walking about, meaning you’re naturally inclined to turn the felt side so it faces you. The felt is treated to give it anti-pilling characteristics and is water repellent because of it
The Carry-On Folio Sleeve is currently only available in black for the 12-inch MacBook, and can be purchased on the Mujjo online store for $112.11 (shipping included).
