Monster Hunter World: Iceborne officially released its fourth free title update. The update marks the debut of the Blazing Black Dragon Alatreon to the game along with the offer of a monster variant Frostfang Barioth. This new update is now available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC.

Prepare for difficult challenges ahead

The best hunters know that proper preparation is important when going on a hunt. However, when it comes to Alatreon, the preparation has to be top-notch considering this monster’s unstable elemental nature. Alateron can enter Dragon, Fire, or even Ice elemental states. This means hunters need to anticipate the number of possible attacks and change tactics on the fly. That’s not enough as when Alatreon prepares its Escaton Judgement attack, only players that deal damage with the correct element can ensure that the damage of the incoming shockwave is minimized.

There’s also the new monster variant Tempered Frostfang Barioth. However, this is only going to be available to all Iceborne players as part of the limited-time event quest that starts August 7. This version exhales a chilling gust of wind that freezes the ground in order to ensure that in each fight it gets the positional advantage. Hunters who believe they have the upper hand when fighting against this one need to prepare for this retaliatory breath of ice.

So what’s in store for hunters that are brave enough to face these challenges? They get rewards with materials that they can use to forge brand new top-tier Palico gear, weapons, and armor that feature new set bonus skills.

New Seasonal Event

Starting on July 22 and until August 6, Seliana’s Lunar Terrace is celebrating the summer with the Sizzling Spice Fest. This entire Gathering Hub is set to turn up the heat with meaty new meals at the canteen, carnival-inspired decorations, and a new Poogie costume. Then there’s also the seasonal Palico gear, paid seasonal Handler costume, and new snowman design.

Track out the monsters

This new update is also set to introduce a number of new system features. For example, Hunters that are searching for elusive monsters can now make use of Guiding Alchemy at the Elder Melder in order to create Special Tracks. These tracks can draw out specific monsters of the player’s choice while in the Guiding Lands. This should make it easy for players to control the type of monsters that they encounter.

So what are you waiting for? It’s time to prepare for the hunt.
