Mindrender Illucia Nerfed Hard in Patch 21.3 Hearthstone Patch

A new update has been released for Hearthstone, which introduced changes to Standard and Wild formats. For example, many players are sure to be happy knowing that Mindrender Illucia has been nerfed.

Before we go into that nerf, Patch 21.3 makes a rather interesting change to Battlegrounds. For those who remember, Patch 21.2 increased the turn length for turns 3 to 9 by five seconds. With the new patch, the turn lengths are now back to what it was before Patch 21.2.

Burn the Witch

Here are the changes on Mindrender Illucia’s Battlecry:

  • Old: Swap hands and decks with your opponent until your next turn.
  • New: Replace your hand with a copy of your opponent’s until end of turn.

According to the development team, it appeared that players were making use of Mindrender Illucia in an unintended manner especially when Shadow Priest was refined. The team went on to say that Illucia was supposed to play as a “late game disruption tool.” Instead, she’s being used in the early game to effectively have opponents skip their turn.

The change still gives some sort of advantage to whoever played Illucia though it won’t be as painful to the receiving end.

Questline Changed

When the United in Stormwind expansion came out, it introduced Questline. This spell ability is like the Quest where it gives a conditional reward. The main difference is that it needs three conditions. For Patch 21.3, the first two parts of The Demon Seed have been changed. These are:

  • The Demon Seed (part 1 of the Questline)
    • Old: Take 6 damage on your turns. Reward: Lifesteal. Deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.
    • New: Take 8 damage on your turns. Reward: Lifesteal. Deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.
  • Establish the Link (part 2 of the Questline)
    • Old: Take 7 damage on your turns. Reward: Lifesteal. Deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.
    • New: Take 8 damage on your turns. Reward: Lifesteal. Deal 3 damage to the enemy hero.

In addition to these changes, The Demon Seed has been banned in Wild. The team revealed that this last change was done because it resulted in problematic gameplay.
