Cyberpunk 2077's most recent delay has spoiled the plans of many fans who expected to play the game in November. Now, fans of other games are suffering too. It’s no secret that this year's behemoth is Cyberpunk 2077. No other game wants to compete with that and get their sales all shot down.

The expansion packs of Path of Exile and Microsoft’s The Medium were delayed. They didn’t want to compete with 2077. Another game MechWarrior 5 joined the list. Its Heroes of the Inner Sphere expansion pack and the Steam and GOG launch were postponed. Both of them were set to release on December 10 but developers decided that changing the date would be wise.

“As many of you know, the delay in the release of Cyberpunk 2077 until December 10th had us reconsidering our release date for the Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC, as well as the launch of MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries on Steam and GoG,” the official announcement read.

The announcement moves the new release date to Spring 2021. They also confirmed the versions for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. This is surprising as most MechWarrior games were not released on console.

“We have decided that moving the release date of MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries DLC Heroes of the Inner Sphere to Spring 2021 is the right choice. This will allow us to fulfill that dream and more. We are excited and proud to announce that now, in addition to playing MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries on PC, it will also be available on the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One,” developers added. “This will be the first MechWarrior title on a console since 2004's MechAssault 2, and in our opinion, the first true MechWarrior experience ever on a console.”

It’s not all bad news. The delay may give extra development time. It may yield a better final product. There are still lots of other games to play in December though, like Ubisoft’s Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
