The Marvel Legacy: Next Big Thing panel at New York Comic-Con gave readers an inside look at what to expect from some of their favorite books. The panel of Marvel writers, artists and editors spoke about the latest event and what fans can look forward to in various titles.

Executive Editor Nick Lowe, Associate Editor Mark Basso, writers Ed Brisson ( Iron Fist ), Matthew Rosenberg ( Punisher ), Charles Soule ( Daredevil ), Rainbow Rowell ( Runaways ) and Gerry Duggan ( Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool ), and artists Javier Garron ( Secret Warriors ) and Erica Henderson ( Unbeatable Squirrel Girl ) were all in attendance to speak about their books.

While the Legacy event, written by Jason Aaron, did not come up in the panel, the main story comes across many of these upcoming books.

Iron Fist heads into a new arc featuring Sabretooth, the classic X-Men villain. Sabretooth originally debuted in Iron Fist #15 and the villain still holds a grudge after their first encounter. This time, Iron Fist needs Sabretooth's help, and the two team up against some of the seediest people in the Marvel Universe.

Daredevil will bring Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, into power as the new mayor of New York City. Soule says he did a lot of research into the position; they actually have a lot more power than you may think.

Over in Punisher, Frank Castle has taken the War Machine armor to Europe to overthrow a government. Since the original War Machine died in Civil War II, Frank takes up the mantle. Rosenberg says the book will take “what Frank is and accelerating it to a nightmarish pace. It's his worst fear of what it may be.”

Secret Warriors will face off against Mister Sinister as the younger Inhumans look for a way to stop the extinction. X-Men’s Magik will also guest star in the book during this arc.

Rowell revealed that Runaways was her favorite Marvel comic growing up, and the first arc (which has already started) will see the original team able to choose choose to become a Runaway or decline. The original series forced these kids to team up; this time around they can decide on their own. This arc will bring “the band back together,” which was difficult because some of the original members were dead or missing.

Unbeatable Squirrel Girl will take the superhero into space to fight scammers who paint themselves silver and go planet to planet threatening Galactus’ arrival for riches.

Guardians of the Galaxy will have a lot going on during Marvel Legacy. Gamora has already started to search for the Soul Stone, because she feels a part of her soul was trapped in it. That leads to the main conflict of Legacy. The next arc will see the Guardians join the Nova Corps because someone has sabotaged the Corps from within. Scott Lang, aka Ant-Man, has also joined the Guardians after the events of Secret Empire, which the creative team will explore moving forward. Richard Rider, Nova, will appear in Guardians issue #147 and Peter will finally find out that his friend has survived the cancer-verse. The return of Adam Warlock in issue #150 will also bring back another character, but the panel wouldn’t reveal who.

The Despicable Deadpool will bring the mercenary at odds with Cable as the events of Secret Empire turned the public against him. Strife will also feature heavily in the book, as he comes back for Wade to pay a debt by killing four people of his choosing.

A brand new series was announced at the end of the panel, spinning out of the crossover between All-New Wolverine and Totally Awesome Hulk. Weapon H is coming March 2018 with details to come.
