The cast and crew of The Punisher will not attend New York Comic Con in the wake of the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas, delaying its release date announcement and the debut of new footage. However, there is still some news in the realm of Marvel’s Netflix shows. A photo from Entertainment Weekly reveals Iron Fist will appear in Luke Cage Season 2.

To those following news coming out of San Diego Comic-Con, this does not come as a surprise. During our interview with Finn Jones, he said was very interested in pursuing Heroes For Hire, a fan-favorite comic book arc where Iron Fist and Luke Cage become best friends and kick ass. Jones wants to see the Heroes For Hire arc address his character’s white privilege, which Luke Cage challenged him about in second episode of The Defenders. The conversation really seemed to resonate with Iron Fist and he developed a new level of respect for the Harlem hero and his place in protecting New York City.

One of the reasons Iron Fist wasn’t so well received was because due to the central character’s lack of the comedic traits fans enjoyed in the comics. It seems Luke Cage Season 2 plans to fix that, expanding on the dynamic teased in The Defenders. During our interview with the two goofball actors, they joked about their characters’ love lives in a way that was very reminiscent of their relationship in the comics.

These characters will meet again because of Danny Rand’s connection to Misty Knight. The first photo revealed from Luke Cage Season 2 showed Misty Knight equipped with her canon bionic arm. If you remember from the end of The Defenders , it’s Danny Rand who offered to put her up in a special hospital to get her “up and running again.” It’s possible Colleen Wing’s newfound friendship with Misty, and Misty’s working relationship with Luke Cage, is the reason the two meet again.

Two team-ups are likely in the works -- Daughters of the Dragon and Heroes for Hire. Jessica Henwick teased her team-up with Misty Knight at San Diego Comic-Con. Knight is also confirmed to appear in Iron Fist Season 2.

“Well, I mean I did just say there’s a scene that has all of us in the same room, so it is possible that Colleen and Misty may approach one another and start talking to each other. I know the fans want it. It was part of the reason I loved Collen when I was researching the role, and I saw Daughters of the Dragon and what that was,” she said. “It’s unlike anything on TV. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Yes, I think fans will be happy.”

Don’t expect to see these partnerships anytime soon, though. Jessica Jones and Daredevil Season 3 will likely come before the second seasons of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. And we can’t forget about The Punisher , still slated to release before the end of the year.
