League of Legends’ TeamFight Tactics Set 5.5 update won’t be coming until later this month, but you can test the new changes now in the Public Beta Environment (PBE).

The Set 5.5 update or Reckoning: Dawn of Heroes will introduce a lot of stuff, including new Champions. The 12 new Champions joining the fray are headlined by Akshan and Gwen. Aside from that, you can expect new traits to arrive. These new Champions are set to replace some of the old ones in the game.

AKSHAN

The biggest addition to the roster is Akshan, the newest Champion to hit the Summoner's Rift. This Champion is unique as he uses his trusty grappling hook to swing by and attack enemies with swiftness.

His ability is the Heroic Swing which has active and passive attributes. As an active skill, Akshan will attack the farthest enemy on the screen and give him increased attack speed in the process. The Champion will continue to swing and attack any enemy in the vicinity at double the attack speed.

The Heroic Swing’s passive reduces the target’s armor by 50% for five seconds, thereby making any additional attacks deal more damage.

GWEN

Gwen is a 5-cost Champion with Skip ‘N Slash ability. Using it allows Gwen to dash around the targets in front of her while performing three rapid snips. Each snip not only deals magic damage but also steals magic resist and armor from the enemy.

What’s interesting is that every other time you cast her ability, the number of snips she performs will be doubled.

IRELIA

While not a new Champion, Irelia will have a different ability in the Set 5.5 update. She used to have the Bladestorm where she launches blades in front of her, dealing damage and disarming her enemies for a brief period.

In the new update, she will have a new ability called “Defiance Dance.” This ability surrounds Irelia with her blades for four seconds where she gains a damage reduction buff. Every time she attacks, she gains 10% additional damage reduction and it will continue to increase until it reaches 90%.

Once the buff wears off, she will strike her enemy, dealing magic damage.
