The two titans of gaming headsets, Logitech and Astro, are becoming one. Logitech is acquiring Astro Gaming, with plans for the deal to finalize in August. If you are an Astro fan, don’t worry. Plans for Logitech include allowing Astro to live next to Logitech G products.

"Astro is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes," said Ujesh Desai, the vice president and general manager of Logitech G, in a press statement. "It's a perfect complement to Logitech G's focus on PC gaming and we couldn't be more excited; we love the team, the brand and the products. Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere."

According to Jordan Reiss, the co-founder and president of Astro Gaming, this move will be beneficial for both companies. Logitech can use Astro’s audio advancements while Astro can use Logitech’s distribution network to sell headsets to more gamers worldwide.

“The whole team at Astro has always held Logitech and Logitech G products in the highest regard, so I’m ecstatic we are joining forces,” Reiss said in a press statement. “Astro’s brand strength combined with Logitech G's unrivaled technology and global distribution network is going to bring our products to even more gamers around the world.”

Based on the above quotes, it seems Logitech is going to use Astro to focus on console headsets and accessories, while focusing Logitech G on PC gaming. This makes sense seeing the efforts Logitech has put into for gaming mice, keyboards, flight sticks, steering wheels and more. It will be interesting to see if Astro will start making other products outside of headsets now, such as controllers or other console accessories.

Logitech will be purchasing Astro for $85 million. The deal should be finished by early August.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see what new products will be made with Logitech and Astro working together? Do you think this spells the end of the line for Astro headsets on PC? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
