PlayStation fans could be in for a surprise late this year. In the recent episode of Kinda Funny Gamescast, Jeff Grubb claims in the video (at 41:01) that he has heard about The Last of Us Remake releasing this year. However, he didn’t say anything about the upcoming TLOU MP game, Factions.
Previous Rumors
Previous rumors have claimed that both TLOU Factions and TLOU 2 Director’s Cut will arrive late this year. The game’s existence was first leaked back in April 2021. Till then, several rumors have backed up the previous claim. However, keep in mind that the remake hasn’t been officially announced. So, there’s a possibility that all of it is untrue, but I think that would be highly unlikely.
Possible PC Port
The original The Last of Us game isn’t available on PC yet, and neither is the remastered or its sequel. There were reports that TLOU2 could come to PC. Yet, there hasn’t been an official announcement. The Last of Us franchise is one of the most critically acclaimed franchises of Sony. I am sure PC players will love to play both games.
Previous PlayStation Games Sony Ported to PC
Sony has already ported several exclusives to PC, including Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and God of War (2018). Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, which contains remasters of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, is also coming to PC this year. So, porting The Last of Us Remake to PC seems like a no-brainer.
About the Franchise
The original TLOU game was released on PS3 in 2013. The game was universally acclaimed by both fans and critics and won several GOTY awards in the same year when GTA 5, BioShock Infinite, and Tomb Raider (2013) were released. The game was remastered for PS4 the next year.
The game spawned a sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, released on PS4 in 2020. The sequel received universal acclaim from critics, but fans were divided over its story. Part 2 went on to win many GOTY awards. It is currently the highest award-winning game in history.
