The Last of Us Remake Coming This Year Along With TLOU2 Director’s Cut and Factions – Rumor

The Last of Us
The Last of Us Naughty Dog

The Last of Us is one of the biggest gaming IPs of Sony, and it seems it’s going to have a long and rich future. According to a well-known leaker, Tom Henderson, we can expect tons of TLOU -related content to arrive this year.

Before we get into this, do keep in mind that these are just rumors. There is no official announcement yet, so take them with a grain of salt.

The Last of Us Remake

Yesterday, Henderson mentioned that the alleged remake of TLOU will be released in the second half of 2022. He claimed that he heard this from multiple sources. The existence of the remake was first leaked back in April 2021, suggesting that Naughty Dog was developing a full-fledged remake of the 2013 game.

Many felt it was unnecessary as the game’s visuals still hold up. However, if they can match the visuals and the combat of TLOU to its sequel, it can be a worthy purchase.

The Last of Us 2 Director’s Cut and Factions

Henderson further claimed that both Factions and Director’s Cut of TLOU2 are also in the works. He doesn’t know when and how they will be released. Though, Naughty Dog has already revealed that they are working on TLOU Factions and that it has drastically expanded the scope of the game.

While we don't know how these titles will be released, Sony could bundle TLOU2 Director’s Cut with the Remake or Factions mode or both. We will just have to wait and see.

The Last of Us HBO Show

We do know that HBO is developing a TLOU TV series, and releasing the Remake near that time will be a smart business decision. The sale of The Witcher 3 skyrocketed after The Witcher Netflix show was aired. The TLOU series is scheduled for release in 2022, which can be good timing for a simultaneous product launch.

PC Version?

The chances of TLOU Remake and TLOU2 getting a PC release are slim, but they aren’t zero. Two years ago, a Naughty Dog job listing hinted at a PC release. Plus, if Sony wants Factions to succeed, a PC release will definitely help.

Even though The Last of Us wasn’t mentioned in last year’s Nvidia leak, we are still hoping for a PC launch. We will love to see TLOU Remake, TLOU2 Director’s Cut, and Factions on the master race.
