I Expect You To Die has reached a new milestone since its release in late 2016. This virtual reality action game has reached $2 million in revenue on the Oculus Quest platform. In addition, the game has also sold around 100,000 copies on the same platform.

In I Expect You To Die, players are given scenarios where they need to solve puzzles. This can range from breaking out of an airplane in a car to something as challenging as surfacing in an underwater escape pod. In addition, players don’t have all the time in the world, as events are timed. There are also objects that are hidden that may at first appear random but actually have a specific purpose and may even be needed to solve the puzzle.

In terms of story, players follow a spy who works for a secret organization known as “The Agency.” Like with any such organization, their purpose is to protect the world. In this game, it’s to stop the super villain Dr. Zor.

In addition to the base game, new levels have been added over time. The final episode, which also served as the finale, was released last November. For the final level, players need to crank up not only their determination, but also their smarts.

In a post, Schell Games CEO Jesse Schell revealed that they are happy to have crossed this milestone and join the likes of Pistol Whip and Moss. Both of these games had reached that milestone back in May. Schell went on to say that the “numbers indicate we are right on the cusp of the Oculus Quest becoming the most popular VR system, and in fact, becoming a mass market phenomenon."

Since its release, I Expect You To Die has been nominated for Excellence in Gameplay during the 2017 SXSW Gaming Awards. It was also named as a Finalist in the 2017 D.I.C.E. Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Immersive Reality Technical Achievement, and Immersive Reality Game of the Year.

I Expect You To Die is also available for the Oculus Rift, PlayStation VR, and Steam. The game is currently available for $24.99.
