Halo: The Master Chief Collection Latest Update Lets Players Remap Controls

July 2023 Update 343 Industries

A new patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection has added a bunch of new quality-of-life improvements, most notably the ability to remap buttons to suit your preference.

Back then, if you wanted to remap controls in Halo: The Master Chief Collection, you'd have to download additional software. That's cumbersome if you just want to enjoy Halo right away. Fortunately, the developers finally added button remapping as an official feature in Halo: MCC, so you don't have to jump through hoops just to create a personalized button layout.

To create a custom button layout, you must do the following:

  1. Launch Halo: MCC.
  2. Select Options & Career.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Navigate to the Controls tab.
  5. Select Configure Gamepad.
  6. Under Gameplay, select which game you would like to reconfigure the controls to.
  7. Using the Button Layout option, select a controller layout to modify.
  8. Select Edit Layout.
  9. Modify the inputs to suit your personal preference.

Aside from button remapping, the July 2023 Update added new custom game settings to Halo: Reach and Halo 3. In Halo: Reach, you can now disable waves of enemies when creating a Firefight session. This setting can be found under the "Wave Limit" section of the Firefight Settings menu.

If you want to be immune to assassinations in Halo 3, you can enable a brand-new setting called Invulnerable (MCC). Take note that this can only be turned on in custom games.
