Well it looks like there isn't going to be a GTA 5 August DLC after all. Earlier this month, rumors suggested that the Rockstar Newswire would make an announcement for a new update on Thursday, Aug. 18, followed by a speculated release date today, Aug. 23. There's no sign of a new update from Rockstar, and renowned GTA 5 tipster Yan2295 had this to say earlier this week:

The GTA 5 Biker DLC leaked earlier this month when six source codes revealed five new motorcycle-themed VIP or Boss missions as well as a new garage that counts as a sixth property for players. Of course, new motorcycles and vehicles are expected as well. It looks like the Biker update will deliver substantial new content, but it's hard to say what exactly is causing the DLC to be delayed.

While Yan2295 did not provide a new release date window, GTA 5 tipster and YouTuber MrBossFTW is optimistic that the release date could still arrive soon, possibly early September. Firstly, Rockstar just announced a new GTA Online Shark Card bonus promo. Usually, these Shark Card bonus promos have taken place just before a new DLC. The Shark Card bonus offer is available from Friday, Aug. 19, through Thursday, Aug. 25.

Secondly, MrBossFTW also discussed Rockstar usually implements a ban wave to give GTA Online a clean slate. A slew of GTA 5 gamers had already reached out to MrBossFTW to report that they've been banned. Beyond punishing cheaters, the transferring character ability on GTA 5 has been completely disabled as well, thus ended the sales of modded accounts. MrBossFTW also believes the ban waves and the latest changes to account transfers indicate that a future update is immenent as well.

However, there is one thing that could trip up the next GTA 5 DLC release date: Rockstar announced that it would announce the winner of its CEO Rockstar Editor Contest no later than Aug. 18. However, the date came and went and there has not been a Newswire post regarding the contest.
