The cat is out of the bag with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition now available on Steam. Right now, it's being offered at 50% off until February 3.

This version offers players access to three iconic titles, each has its own epic story. These are Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Of course, they've been updated for a new generation with improvements across the board like new lighting, environmental upgrades, high-resolution textures, increased draw distances, and Grand Theft Auto V -style controls and targeting.

This version is also playable on Steam Deck and supports additional features including achievements.

The Trilogy

Here's what you can expect from this version:

  • Grand Theft Auto III
    • Set in Liberty City, the game puts players at the center of the criminal underworld.
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
    • Set in the 1980s, it follows Tommy Vercetti’s tale of betrayal and revenge in a neon-soaked tropical town full of excess and brimming with possibilities.
  • Grand Theft Auto
    • Set in the early 90s, it follows the story of Carl "CJ" Johnson, who once escaped Los Santos and has now come home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart, and his childhood friends are all heading their way toward disaster.
    • As he returns to his old neighborhood, a couple of cops frame him for homicide, forcing him on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas.

A Caveat

The Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition had actually been released in 2021 though only through the Rockstar Games Launcher. It’s offered for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

While it’s good to know that the game is now accessible to more platforms, there’s a big caveat. Reports have come out that the version available on Steam is pretty much the same one released in 2021, bugs and all. So, it’s up to you whether you want to get it.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is also scheduled for release on the Epic Games Store later this month.
