‘Gone Home’ Is Free This Weekend - Developer Announces.

In a tweet from Friday afternoon, Steve Gaynor, the writer and designer of the exploration game Gone Home, announced that the game would be free this weekend. The extremely highly regarded game puts you in the shoes of a person arriving home, expecting to find their family, but only finding an empty house.

From the Developer:

Gone Home is an interactive exploration simulator. Interrogate every detail of a seemingly normal house to discover the story of the people who live there. Open any drawer and door. Pick up objects and examine them to discover clues. Uncover the events of one family's lives by investigating what they've left behind.’

Following the divisive general election that has caused a lot of grief among so many Americans, Gaynor wanted to get the game out there ‘For people that need something about hope and love right now.’

Though the game is free, you will have a chance to pay what you want for the game. All profits from this will be donated to Lambda Legal, a nonprofit that fights for equal rights and protection for LBGT brothers and sisters. I commend Gaynor’s gesture and encourage anyone downloading the game to contribute what they can to help people who feel afraid and targeted after the election.
