GO Battle Weekend on Pokémon GO Happening This Saturday

Prepare for battle. Niantic

A new GO Battle Weekend is launching on Pokémon GO, from July 1 at 12:00 a.m. (local time) to July 2 at 11:59 p.m. (local time). This one is inspired by Clay of the Pokémon Black and Pokémon White games. For those not familiar with him, he's the Gym Leader of the Driftveil City Gym in Unova.

During this event, the active leagues are Master League Premier and Single-type Cup: Great League Edition.

Event Bonuses

GO Battle Weekends are special events where trainers can join in more battles than usual. For this upcoming event, the maximum number of playable sets per day is increased from five to 20. That means a total of 100 battles each day.

Trainers can also earn 4x Stardust from win rewards. Take note that this doesn't include the end-of-set rewards and won't stack with the 3× Stardust bonus from Master League rotation weeks.

Battle-Themed Timed Research

Trainers can look forward to a paid battle-themed Timed Research. Tasks include fighting 50 times in the GO Battle League along with other battle-themed tasks. This research awards trainers with:

  • 30,000 Stardust
  • One Star Piece
  • Three Rare Candies
  • Three Rare Candy XL for Trainers level 31 and up

To get these, the tasks associated must be completed and the rewards claimed before the event ends. This Timed Research is available for $1.00.

For those who don't want to spend, a free battle-themed Timed Research is also available with rewards including the Clay-Style Hat.

Reward Changes

During GO Battle Weekend: Clay, these changes will be made to the GO Battle League premium track:

  • Guaranteed Rare Candy XL for trainers level 31 and up for their second win in a set.
  • Guaranteed Rare Candy for trainers level 30 and below for their second win in a set.
  • Increased Stardust rewards compared to the basic reward track.
  • The order of premium track rewards is rearranged.

Once GO Battle Weekend is over, several changes will be made again to the GO Battle League for the remainder of the season. The first is that all rewards coming from the premium track will be in the same reward order as the basic reward track but in increased amounts. Meanwhile, trainers who are at least level 31 get the chance to obtain a Rare Candy XL as an item reward after their second win in a set.

Pokémon GO is available on Android and iOS.
