Pokémon GO Solstice Horizons Event Starts Tomorrow

The difference between night and day. Niantic

There's a new event in Pokémon GO. It's Solstice Horizons starting June 16, at 10:00 a.m. (local time), until June 25 at 8:00 p.m. (local time).

During this event, these Pokémon are appearing on different times of the day:

  • Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild during the day:
    • Ledyba
    • Murkrow
    • Solrock
    • Drifloon
    • Purrloin
    • Sewaddle
    • Cottonee
    • Petilil
    • Fomantis
  • Pokémon appearing more frequently in the wild at night:
    • Oddish

    • Misdreavus
    • Lunatone
    • Stunky
    • Venipede
    • Foongus
    • Phantump
    • Fomantis

Trainers who are lucky enough may encounter Hisuian Sneasel during the day or Sneasel at night.

Of course, trainers can enjoy these bonuses during the event:

  • 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
  • Lunatone and Solrock both appear in the wild during the event, regardless of location.

Special Research

For the duration of the event, there is a new Special Research titled "Starry Skies" and it stars Cosmog. However, not all trainers can participate since it's only available to those who are at least level 5. The first run of this Special Research is free for those qualified and to get access, trainers just need to open the game during the Solstice Horizons event.

Those who have already finished this Special Research can still give it a second go. But they'll have to buy a ticket which costs $5.

Event Activities

  • The Pokémon appear in raids:
    • One-Star Raids
      • Sneasel
      • Hisuian Sneasel
      • Rockruff
      • Fomantis
    • Three-Star Raids

  • Solstice Horizons–themed Field Research
    • Those who finish it can receive rewards like the chance to encounter Fomantis.
  • Solstice Horizons–themed Collection Challenges
    • Completing the challenges have trainers receive Stardust and encounter with Fomantis.

Team GO Rocket

Attention trainers! Team Rocket is making their presence felt between June 21 and June 25. It's going to be a rocky challenge as they take on Giovanni and his Shadow Regirock. To go after Team Rocket, trainers need to access the new Special Research story when the event goes live. Progress through it and get a Super Rocket Radar to chase down Giovanni.

For this mini-event, trainers can look forward to:

  • Team GO Rocket appearing more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons.
  • Using a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration.
