Gears 5 story expansion pack is now live on all platforms. Previously announced, The Hivebusters DLC is finally available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can buy or play it via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. That’s the Ultimate version of the Pass, not the base version.
Developers of the game, The Coalition, also released Title Update 12 that welcomes some other changes to the game. Wakaatu is added as one of the bosses for Horde and Horde Frenzy game mode. Engineer Perks will now activate automatically for player’s fortification.
Robotic Expert’s Repair Speed Perk is removed. But it is replaced by Critical Damage Perk. Combat Medic class received a major buff. Team Revive cooldown is now 300s from the previous 450s. The total amount of stim per headshot for Helpful Headshots card is doubled, for level six only. Speaking of Helpful Headshots, now it will trigger for every weak point, not just headshots.
TITLE UPDATE 12 PVE CHANGES
Horde
- Added the Wakaatu to the pool of bosses in Horde and Horde Frenzy.
- Engineer Perks now apply retroactively to the player’s owned fortifications.
Escape
- Changed the behavior of the Iron Man mutator in Escape to only prevent pod respawns, instead of requiring players to back out to the lobby when the team wipes.
Robotics Expert
- Changed Repair Speed Perk to Critical Damage Perk.
Combat Medic
- Reduced cooldown of Team Revive from 450s to 300s.
- Increased amount of stim per headshot for Combat Medic’s Helpful Headshots card from 6HP to 12HP. (Level 6)
- Helpful Headshots now triggers on all weak points in addition to headshots.
The title update also brought dozens of bug fixes. You can read about them on the official site.
It’s surprising to see a campaign DLC nowadays when every other company releases MP-only stuff. It probably has to do with the success of Gears 5. The title sold more than Gears of War 4 even though it was available on Xbox Game Pass.
