Trainers, it is time to prepare for some spooky shenanigans as Galarian Yamask is all set to make its debut in Pokémon Go. It’s going to be through a Halloween-themed Special Research, with those who manage to complete certain Field Research tasks able to get an encounter with Spiritomb and even meet a Shiny one.

The event is starting this Friday, October 23 at 9:00 PM EDT and runs through November 3 at 9:00 PM EST. Here are the details of this new event:

    • Ghost-type Pokémon are going to:
      • Appear more often in the wild
      • Be featured in raids
      • Hatch more frequently from Eggs
    • This year, Gengar and Sableye are going to be wearing costumes.
      • Go against a costumed Gengar in raids and also keep an eye out for costumed Sableye in the wild.
    • Galarian Yamask appears in Pokémon Go for the first time.
      • Help Professor Willow know more about this Pokémon by completing the new Halloween 2020 Special Research titled A Spooky Message Unmasked.
    • Spiritomb can be encountered by completing certain Field Research tasks and by completing the new Halloween 2020 Special Research story, A Spooky Message Unmasked.
      • Trainers lucky enough can encounter a Shiny Spiritomb.
    • Trainers who completed the Mega Buddy Challenge Timed Research get to participate in exclusive Timed Research that rewards Gengar Mega Energy.
    • Darkrai is going to be featured in five-star raids.
    • Enjoy Halloween-themed Field Research tasks.
    • New avatar items are going to be available in the Style Shop.
      • Get dressed for Halloween with a:
        • Pikachu Mask
        • Gengar Onesie
        • Sableye Goggles
        • Sableye Mask
        • Banette Mask
      • Get to also try out the new Spooky Pose.
    • Keep those eyes peeled for the Creepy Crate, Boo Bundle, and Pumpkin Pack boxes in the shop.

  • Catch Mastery: Ghost Day
    • Date: October 25 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM local time.
    • Ghost-type Pokémon appear more often in the wild.

    • Details:
      • In this format, only Poison-, Bug-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Fairy-type Pokémon with 1,500 CP or less are allowed to participate.
      • Trainers can also earn encounters with costumed Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.
