Welcome back to Camp Crystal Lake! Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Edition is now out on Nintendo Switch. The award-winning asymmetrical survival horror video game is based on the film franchise of the same name.

This edition of Friday the 13th comes with all play modes, online play utilizing Nintendo Switch Online, all previously released content, and all paid DLCs, including three Jason Kill Packs, both Counselor Clothing Packs, and the Emote Party Pack, except for the Kickstarter/Backer exclusive “Savini Jason” character or backer exclusive clothing pack.

Gun Media Executive Producer Ismael Vicens shared that the timing for the release on the Switch is just right, adding that it has "been thirty years since Friday the 13th released on the Nintendo Entertainment System. We felt it was the right time to bring Camp Crystal Lake back to Nintendo hardware.”

Vicens also revealed why he thinks fans of the title are going to love this edition. He said that when “playing Friday the 13th: The Game on the Nintendo Switch against your friends, and having those friends be on their own devices in the same room is an experience unlike that found on any other platform, and we think fans are going to love it.”

Vicens said that they anticipate that counselors and Jason players will have their hands full when Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Edition and all of the new content is released.

For gamers who are also fans of the movies and who are anticipating the chance to play Jason Voorhees, the most famous killer in the horror genre, the game allows players to choose from various versions of Jason, including:

  • Friday the 13th, Part II
  • Friday the 13th, Part III
  • Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives
  • Friday the 13th, Part VII: New Blood
  • Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
  • Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday

True fans of the film franchise know why “Part I” is not included.

If you are not keen on taking on the role of Jason, you can opt to be a counselor. There are various tropes from the Friday the 13th movies, and you can choose from different counselor types with different strengths and weaknesses.

The main objective for players of Friday the 13th: The Game is survival. Whether you are playing as Jason or as one of the counselors, you are faced with many opportunities for survival, but each choice also has a consequence. Can you survive the night?

Friday the 13th: The Game Ultimate Slasher Edition is available for $39.99.
