Earlier today, Nvidia announced its lineup of next-generation RTX 3000 series graphics cards. The company also announced its partnership with Epic Games and how it is bringing RTX technologies to the popular battle royale Fortnite.

Fortnite boasts a massive 350 million players all around the world and the game has previously partnered with many companies, including Disney, Marvel, and the NFL. However, Fortnite's partnership with Nvidia is bringing exciting features to the game like ray tracing, low-latency gaming, and AI-accelerated frame rates.

Ray tracing has been around for a while, but the technology was not adopted by many developers. Ray tracing is basically a rendering technique that greatly improves lighting, reflections, and shadow quality. Fortnite will be getting four different RTX ray tracing features that will drastically improve the game's visuals. Fortnite will have ray-traced reflections, global illumination, shadows, and ambient occlusion.

Nvidia also dropped the Fortnite RTX reveal trailer that captures how RTX features will enhance the game's look. The trailer shows off accurate realtime reflections on reflective surfaces and water, and even colorful character skins. To enjoy Fortnite in all its RTX glory, you'll need a capable GeForce RTX graphics card.

In addition to the ray tracing features, Fortnite will also be taking advantage of Nvidia's new DLSS 2.0, which should greatly improve performance. DLSS, or Deep Learning Super Sampling, is a technique that enhances image quality while also improving performance.

Fortnite will also have a creative RTX Treasure Run that will highlight the RTX features within the game.

Along with the ray tracing and DLSS, Nvidia will also be launching the Nvidia Reflex suite for Fortnite, which will dynamically reduce input latency while gaming. The Nvidia Reflex suite has been successfully shown to reduce input lag in games like Apex Legends, Destiny 2, and Valorant.

Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Android, and Nintendo Switch. The game will also release on Xbox Series X and PS5 in the future.
