Update v20.00 for Fortnite’s Creative Mode is here, and it brings the biggest features introduced in Chapter 3 - Season 2. This includes Mantling, Sprinting, and Overshield, among many others.

New Features

So first, we’ll talk about Mantling. This new feature allows you to grab onto ledges whenever you’re swimming or jumping to higher ground. You do this by pressing the spacebar (default jump button) while you’re in the air.

Because the developers have increased the default running speed, they’ve made the sprinting speed faster. A sprint meter has been added to let you know how much longer you can run at that pace. Furthermore, you can perform a shoulder bash while sprinting to open doors.

Now, one of the things that made Fortnite unique is that you can build something out of the scraps you've picked up. You can create a structure to have a place to hide from enemy fire, for example. However, there’s a fundamental change in Chapter 3 Season 2 wherein building is removed from the core battle royale experience.

Instead, devs have implemented an Overshield, which will be the first one that gets depleted when you receive damage from foes. It also recharges on its own if it goes down to zero.

It is important to keep in mind that these new features are turned off by default to avoid disrupting the current gameplay. You can head to the “My Islands” settings menu to enable them manually.

Battle Royale Weapons
  • Combat SMG
  • Striker Burst Rifle
  • Repair Torch
  • Firefly Spawner
    • Now you can place swarms of fireflies that players can collect for themselves instead of you having to grant them via devices
  • The Collectibles gallery now has Class support with the ability to make Collectibles available (and even visible) to only a selected Class
  • Fixed an issue with the Skydive Volume device that caused players to remain in skydive animation after a game would end in Creative
  • Fixed an issue with the round settings device that included inaccurate settings such as Join in Progress
  • Fixed an issue with the Teleporter that caused a Link to Target to fail after Game Start
  • We have made some changes to how content is sorted within the Creative Inventory:
    • Anything categorized as “Recently Added” or “New This Season” will now appear at the top of its assigned tab. Previously, this was only done for Prefab and Gallery tabs
    • Consumables can now be sorted by rarity
    • Content seasonally categorized as Spring will now appear higher up the list
