Fortnite Battle Royale and Save The World received some controversial updates over the past few hours. Epic is evaluating friendly fire restrictions, and the 1.37 update isn’t offering the stability the development team had planned.

Starting with the latest official development update for Battle Royale, here are a few key aspects discussed in the short video:

  • Epic recently disabled friendly fire in Battle Royale, and is considering possible changes in that area.
  • The Battle Royale map exploit has been fixed in the 1.37 update. Epic has reiterated that it takes cheating very seriously.
  • Battle Pass rewards include five tiers for season 3, all previous progress will carry over and boosts from the pass will stack if you play with friends. New deal happening now offers 10 tiers for the price of three.

Alongside these fairly small tweaks, Epic also released the brand new1.37 update on PS4. Like the previous patch, this one was intended to address stability issues, but it ended up offering anything but. Shortly after deployment, players had trouble logging in and matchmaking issues. While some of them have been resolved at the time of publication, lingering quirks like crashes, queue problems and other glitches persist. The developer has been silent with regard to these more recent shortcomings, but is likely to address them soon.

Fortnite has quickly become one of the year’s hottest games, and it’s seemingly gotten more difficult for Epic to deal with the constant influx of new players across Battle Royale and Save The World. While the game itself is still technically in a state of early access, retail packages are on shelves and its audience continues to swell and achieve new milestones. Success is a great thing, but it makes active development of a new product much harder to handle.

Looking forward to the rest of the year, Battle Royale will likely continue to expand while Save The World works its way up to a full, free release. In a previous development update, Epic said it’s working to optimize server loads before it brings Save The World to the wider public sphere.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. We expect new updates soon to address any issues you may be having with the latest build of the game.
