If you’re looking forward to the upcoming role-playing game Forspoken, prepare to be even more excited. Square Enix and Luminous Productions released a new ten-minute gameplay trailer, which gives a deeper look into the magic-enhanced combat as well as the parkour in action. It even gives us a peek into the corrupted enemies that players can encounter and the beautiful yet cruel world they’ll be stepping into.

You can watch the trailer below:

Welcome to Cipal

If you didn’t have time to watch the new trailer, we’ll share with you some highlights. First, the new gameplay footage gives us a better look at some of the areas in Athia. This includes Cipal, the last remaining haven being used as a refuge by the surviving Athians. Cipal also serves as the key location for Frey, the main character. It is here where she can collect and trade not just information but also goods.

Versatile Combat Skills

Speaking of Frey, the gameplay trailer also puts her in the spotlight as she goes out into the wilds of two corrupted areas known as Praenost and Avoalet. The trailer gives players a glimpse into different enemies that they can encounter in these two realms. At the same time, we also see the versatility of Frey’s magical combat skills. For example, players can choose to wreak magical havoc on enemies by fighting in a controlled frenzy and unleashing a wave of quick-fire spells. Those who prefer a more methodical approach can do so by using calculated attacks on enemies.

Parkour!

We also get to take a closer look at the magic-enhanced parkour skills of Frey, which allow her to seamlessly and quickly travel across Athia. With the use of this magic-enhanced parkour system, players get the chance to explore Athia while discovering different rewards that can improve Frey’s journey and skillset. This includes:

  • Mana, which players can use to unlock new magical abilities.
  • Powerful gear for stat boosts and increases.
  • Collectable items for crafting and trading.

The new gameplay footage also gives us a glimpse of how this magic-enhanced parkour can be used in conjunction with Frey’s combat skills in battle. For example, it allows her to evade enemy attacks while also inflicting damage in a fast and fluid manner.

Forspoken is launching on January 24, 2023, on PC and PlayStation 5.
