Final Fantasy 15 is getting a DLC and it's bringing back an iconic villain from FF's past. The storyline update, titled "Episode Gladiolus," brings us the return of Gilgamesh.

Via DLC producer Haruyoshi Sawatari, "In Episode Gladio, you’re able to go into areas that cannot be entered in the main game…[the DLC will] bring the FF15 world closer to the player, in greater depth.”

Final Fantasy 15 players will remember a moment in the game when Gladio leaves the party to take care of some business. When he returns, we see a scar across the chest. If we had to guess, the latest DLC will elaborate what happened to Gladios and his apparent run-in with the villain.

“The player confronts an enemy called Gilgamesh, who can only be seen in Episode Gladio,” Sawatari explained.

The introduction of Gilgamesh in the first Final Fantasy 15 DLC is major fan service for faithful players of the franchise. Gilgamesh, known as a sword thief and a powerful fighter, has appeared in different forms throughout the Final Fantasy series. Who knows, Gilgamesh will likely appear in a new form for FF15 as well.

Sawatari's announcement was via a new special edition book detailing Square Enix's plans for the game. Sawatari also teased, "We're also planning on content that will truly blow your mind."

We can't wait to learn what the mind-blowing content will be, but in the meantime, be sure to stay tuned as we expect to learn more.

In our Final Fantasy 15 review, we commented, "Despite major criticisms of the game’s flaws, including my dissatisfaction with the plot-mandated boss fights/set pieces and my displeasure with the linear world and the direction of Noctis’ personal story, Final Fantasy XV is a milestone achievement: not just for being completed, but for being completed with polish, aplomb and love.
