Final Fantasy 14’s upcoming Patch 5.3 is set to be released this August 11. Dubbed as “Reflections in Crystal,” it’s going to offer a lot of new content that includes main scenario quests, a new dungeon, and even a new trial. The patch was originally scheduled to be launched in June, but had to be postponed due to difficulties in production resulting from the pandemic.

Earlier this month Game Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida revealed in a letter posted on the game’s official forum that they had wanted Reflections in Crystal to be released by the end of July. However, there were a lot of factors that needed to be considered like testing and debugging the next alliance raid of YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse. He did assure fans that while the different pandemic safety measures resulted in the two-month delay, the “primarily home-based work system is now securely established, and we plan to return to our regular release schedule of roughly every three and a half months after Patch 5.3.”

The game recently released a trailer for this new patch which you can view below:

Festivals Cancelled

Final Fantasy 14 also announced that the Japanese Fan Festival has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. This was originally scheduled to take place from December 19 to December 20 in Nagoya. Back in June, it was announced as well that the North American Festival was cancelled. This one was to take place from November 6 to November 7 in San Diego.

The plan is to now hold the fests sometime in the first half of 2021 and Square Enix is currently looking into possible dates, cities, and venues.
