A lot of new things.
A lot of new things. Square Enix

Final Fantasy 14 released an update which offers an interesting feature for those new to the game. What is it, you ask? Well, it expands the Free Trial. With this, players get unlimited playtime up through level 60. This also gives new players full access to the A Realm Reborn experience along with the Heavensward expansion, which also includes updates up to Patch 3.56.

In addition, players also get access to an additional playable race, the Au Ra, along with three extra playable jobs: Astrologian, Dark Knight, and Machinist. If you’re interested, you can sign up for the free trial here.

That’s not all that arrived with the new update. A main scenario quest of A Realm Reborn is going to be updated and streamlined in order to allow new players to experience the best of the story and be able to advance to Heavensward quicker. In addition, players can also use flying mounts in areas from A Realm Reborn.

Here are some of the new additions to the game that arrived with this new update:

  • New Dungeon: The Heroes’ Gauntlet
    • This new dungeon is able to live up to its name as the Warriors of Darkness need to fight their way across the whole of Norvrandt. This dungeon can be played with fellow adventurers or with NPCs through the Trust System.
  • New Trial: Mystery Trial
    • Warriors of Darkness need to go against a new enemy that has an incredible power. This new trial is available for both Normal and Extreme difficulties and is sure to test even the most experienced of players.
  • New Raid: YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse – The Puppets’ Bunker
    • The NieR raid series from guest creators Yosuke Saito and Yoko Taro continues in this one. For this new raid, the android 2P has awakened along with a new threat.
  • New Battle Content: Unreal Trials
    • In this one level 80 heroes get to challenge powered-up versions of existing primals. Unreal Trials shine a spotlight on one primal per patch.

There are also a host of additions brought to crafter and gatherer with this new patch. For example, there are going to be new custom deliveries along with updates to Rowena’s House of Splendors. There’s also an update to the Skysteel Tools.
