The DC FanDome event this past weekend gave a peek at two new super-powered games. The first one was Gotham Knights, which is a bit on the serious side. However, the second game turned out to be on the other end of the spectrum. Titled as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, you can pretty much get an idea of where the game is headed.

Before we look at the other details of Kill the Justice League, it was introduced through a reveal trailer which was indeed a surprise. We say surprise considering that for a game that’s being developed by Rocksteady Studios, the atmosphere is rather “colorful” compared to the Batman: Arkham series. Watching the reveal trailer actually gives you some sort of Sunset Overdrive feels.

See for yourself the reveal trailer below:

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is an action-adventure shooter that can be played solo or through online co-op with a maximum of four players. While there have been many members of the Suicide Squad over the years, in this one players take on the role of four of them.

There’s of course Harley Quinn, who has long managed to come out from the Joker’s shadow. The one-who-never-misses, Deadshot, is an excellent option to choose as well. Then there’s everyone’s favorite criminal from down under, Captain Boomerang. Rounding out the roster is none other than King Shark. Each member offers a unique moveset along with special traversal abilities to allow them into open the dynamic open world. There’s also going to be different weapons that players can customize and skills that can be mastered.

In a press statement, Warner Bros. Games President David Haddad said that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League highlights just how good Rocksteady is when it comes to offering a game that has masterful storytelling combined with compelling gameplay that’s based on many of DC’s well-known characters. He went on to say that the team right now “is creating a genre-defining experience that brings the formidable Suicide Squad to life in a way that has never been done before.”

Meanwhile, in the same statement Rocksteady Co-founder and Creative Director Sefton Hill shared that they are more than excited to offer a peek into their latest project. Hill added that they are “introducing an original take on the Suicide Squad that combines the rich, character-driven storytelling Rocksteady is known for with innovative gameplay features to create a unique gaming experience.”

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to be released in 2022 for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
