Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Hits New Milestone with More than 1 Million Units Sold

Square Enix announced that Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince has hit a new milestone. More than 1 million units of the game has been shipped worldwide since its launch for the Nintendo Switch. This latest achievement follows the recent 25th anniversary celebration of the Dragon Quest Monsters series.

In celebration of this new milestone, all players get to receive a "Mighty Meat Platter Set" as a thank you for the support. This set contains:

  • Manky meat x5
  • Monster munchies x5
  • Smoked sirloin x5
  • Meaty treat x3
  • Beastie bites x2
  • Better beastie bites x1

The "Mighty Meat Platter Set" can be downloaded for free in the Nintendo eShop until February 1. Once downloaded, the items included in the are automatically added to the inventory of the players after restarting the game.

In the game, players get to take on the role of Psaro, the antagonist from Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen. During the adventure, they get the chance to become a Monster Wrangler. Players can recruit, train, and fight with more than 500 unique monsters and create an army for battle.

The game features a newly evolved and evermore intuitive synthesis system, which give everyone the chance to come up with new monster combinations through their own innate talents. This should be fun not only to longtime fans of the series but even those new to the game.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince was released December 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. Standard and Deluxe Editions are available in physical and digital formats.

Dragon Quest is a legendary series RPG created by Yuji Horii and loved by players not only in Japan but around the world. The first Dragon Quest game was released in 1986 with the game making its official debut in 1989 as Dragon Warrior.

The highly acclaimed series has sold more than 85 million units worldwide spanning 11 main series titles along with spin-off games. There's also been novels, manga, anime, and film, to name a few. The series itself hold different Guinness World Records that include "Longest-Running Japanese RPG Series." The latest title in the series, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of An Elusive Age, received critical acclaim and won various awards like the Metacritic Must-Play game award. More than 6.5 million units of the game has been shipped worldwide to date.
