Dota Underlords released its latest update, which brings changes in how players fight. In addition, this new update also introduces a new ranked system along with a new casual multiplayer mode.

Head to Head

With the update, players are now paired off to fight directly against each other with both taking part in the same shared combat. If an odd number of players are present, one of the players that fights is going to be a clone of the actual players. In addition, the leaderboard now pairs off players when they're in head-to-head combat.

Ranked System

A new ranked system is introduced with the Rank now a number that players can see that moves up and down in a predictable way. In addition, the rank change is now based mainly on where a player finished in a Ranked match and no longer depends on the opponents' Rank.

Under the new system, any time a player reaches the next minor Rank, the game gives bonus rank points. However, like the system before the update, if a players reaches a major Rank, it is automatically locked in and no longer drop below it.

Casual Multiplayer Mode

The update also now allows you to play multiplayer games without affecting your Rank. You can queue solo or with friends and will be matched against opponents having the same skill level.

In this mode, you can experiment with new builds, or complete those elusive challenges. Daily Challenges and Achievements can be earned in Casual Multiplayer matches.

Gameplay

In terms of gameplay, round damage is eliminated for rounds 4 through 9. Round Damage starts at round 11, at two damage, and proceeds as before from then on, three damage starting at round 20, four damage at round 30, etc. Whenever a player loses a round against another player, the loser gains a free reroll the next round. This reroll is not stackable, so use it or lose it.

An important change with the update is that it adds 2-Star and 3-Star look upgrades to these Heroes:

  • Abaddon
  • Arc Warden
  • Anti-Mage
  • Clockwerk
  • Doom
  • Dragon Knight
  • Drow Ranger
  • Gyrocopter
