Dota 2 Tour 3 SA: Beascoast Tied with Thunder Awaken at First Place

Tied at the top.

In the Dota 2 competitive scene, the Americas are often seen as consistent. In North America, for example, the fight for the top spot is typically between Quincy Crew and Evil Geniuses. The same can be said in South America. With only two spots available for each Major, it's been mainly dominated by Beastcoast and Thunder Awaken.

For Tour 3, Beastcoast and Thunder Awaken both have a 4-1 standing. Not really surprising given that these are the same two teams from South America that had direct invites to The International 2021. As of this writing, the standings for this region show:

  • Beastcoast: 4-1
  • Thunder Awaken: 4-1
  • Infamous: 3-2
  • Infinity: 2-3
  • SG esports: 2-3
  • Tempest: 2-3
  • Hokori: 1-3
  • Wolf Team: 1-3

What's interesting is that the last match for the region is between Beastcoast and Thunder Awaken. If both win their respective matches before facing each other, that would mean one of them will have a 5-2.

It's going to be exciting especially if Infamous wins its last two matches because it becomes a tiebreaker with whoever loses in the Beastcoast vs Thunder Awaken fight.

What's even more interesting is that both have to attend the Arlington Major. Thunder Awaken needs to finish at least eighth for a chance to get a direct invite. The same can be said for Beastcoast.

We’ll have to wait until next week to see what happens.

Quick Roundup

Now that we’re done with South America, let’s do a quick roundup of the other regions:

    • Quincy Crew continues to have the solo lead but Evil Geniuses and Nouns are not far behind.
    • BOOM Esports has managed to tie Talon Esports for the lead.
    • Both teams need to win their remaining matches to join the Arlington Major.
  • China
    • Royal Never Give Up, Team Aster, and Xtreme Gaming have a big chance of making it to the Arlington Major.
    • PSG.LGD needs to win its last two matches to avoid the possibility of going down to Division II.
    • It's now a four-way tie between BetBoom Team, Natus Vincere, Outsiders, and Team Spirit.
    • Exciting days are ahead for fans as the fights are sure to intensify.

    • The team needs to get at eighth to secure a direct invite to The International 2022.
    • The three remaining spots are being fought over by Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, Entity, and Team Secret.
