Wrapping up Day 2. Beyond the Summit

The LOOT.BET Dota Summit 12 ended its Group Stage, which means two teams have been eliminated. Entering the Playoffs are Dota 2 teams Fnatic, OG.Seed, Evil Geniuses, and Team Liquid. The eliminated teams are Thunder Predator and Cloud9. Cloud9 in particular exits the tournament with zero games won.

To recap, Fnatic had a strong showing with a win in all four games. You can read more about our Day 1 recap here.

Main Games - Day 2

However, Fnatic wasn't as fortunate in Day 2. Its first match was against OG.Seed with the first game going to OG. This was all thanks to an excellent showing by Omar Mohammad "Madara" Dabachach with 14 kills. Fnatic did manage to turn the tables and grab the win for the second game.

That was be pretty much Fnatic's performance for Day 2. Thunder Predator, for instance, managed to get a tie as well. Fnatic had a chance to go 2-0 against EG, but in the second game they couldn't find an answer to Abed Azel "Abed" Yusop's Queen of Pain.

OG.Seed had a strong showing as well getting a 2-0 win against Cloud9.

Meanwhile, EG had trouble finding an answer to Liquid's drafts. In the first game, Max "qojqva" Bröcker on Ember Spirit was the standout star along with Michael "miCKe" Vu on Magnus. The second game was pretty much the same with qojqva on Zeus and miCKe on Bristleback getting double-digits in kills. EG did make up for it in their next match by beating Cloud9 2-0.

Tiebreaker Match

Ultimately Day 2 boiled down to a tiebreaker between Thunder Predator and Liquid, with the loser going home. Thunder Predator had control in the early stages of the game. Beginning just a few seconds short of the 13 minute mark, Thunder Predator picked off Liquid one member at a time. They also got Aegis from Roshan along with a few towers.

Thunder Predator tried to push mid, but it was disastrous with Liquid getting the advantage in that team fight. Thunder Predator again attempted another fight, but again lost with Romel "Wu" Quinteros on Winter Wyvern even experiencing a dieback.

Thunder Predator lost yet another team fight around the 41-minute mark and Liquid never looked back to get the win.

The Summit 12 playoffs start today with the first matches featuring OG.Seed going against Evil Geniuses and Fnatic against Team Liquid.
