Welcome the King.
Welcome the King. OG

The Dota 2 Leipzig Major may be over, but it looks like this week is all about OG. This time around, the team announced that their carry position is going to be filled by none other than Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan.

Over the weekend, OG announced that two of its members were making a decision not to play this season. Anathan “ana” Pham is planning on taking an extended break with plans to return next season. Meanwhile, Jesse "Jerry" Vainikka took a different route and made the decision to retire from Dota 2. You can read more of that here.

Then at the start of the week, it was announced that Sebastien “Ceb” Debs will no longer be part of the roster and is moving to inactive status. Ceb remains a part of OG, but more of in a mentor capacity. You can read about Ceb’s decision here.

The news that SumaiL is joining OG could be a relief to many fans. It goes without saying that SumaiL is someone that doesn't really need that much of an introduction. A member of Evil Geniuses since 2015, he made his debut during the Dota 2 League Season 5 finals. Back then he gave a rather lackluster performance, with many questioning if he even deserved a spot on the team. In a later tournament, SumaiL introduced the Euls Scepter build for Shadow Fiend. This would eventually become part of the Dota 2 meta. In the same year, EG won TI. This made SumaiL the youngest Dota 2 player to ever win a TI.

In TI9, EG finished in the 5th-6th place after being eliminated by Team Liquid. After this, SumaiL was placed on inactive status. He initially became part of Quincy Crew before being replaced by his brother, Yawar "YawaR" Hassan.

In a statement posted on their website, OG said that SumaiL is someone that isn't content with simply watching and is clearly ready for a challenge. OG went on to say that by being switched to the carry position, SumaiL brings "his incredibly tenacious will with him here at OG, and is more than ready to show everybody who’s supposed to be sitting on the throne."

There’s no question that with SumaiL, it’s going to be a new era with OG. Now OG needs to find two more players to have a complete roster. They should hurry though, as the qualifiers for the third Major is almost here.

What about you? Who do you think should be joining OG?
