Void gets nerfed... again.
Void gets nerfed... again. Valve

It's been more than a week since Dota 2 released its Outlanders Update and introduced the Void Spirit. Aside from bringing two new heroes to the fight, the update also offered new changes. Since that update, there has been a number of small updates addressing issues brought by Update 7.23, which many in the community are calling "Dota 3".

However it appears that Void Spirit may have been too powerful, as it experienced yet another nerf.

Void Spirit

So what changed? For starters, the latest Dota 2 update lowers the damage of its three skills. The damage reductions include:

  • Aether Remnant
    • Lowered from 90/150/210/270 to 80/130/180/230
  • Dissimilate
    • Lowered from 120/200/280/360 to 100/180/260/340
  • Resonant Pulse
    • Lowered from 70/130/190/250 to 70/120/170/220

It's not just damage though, as the base shield absorption of Resonant Pulse has also been reduced from 50/100/150/200 to 40/80/120/160.

This is not the first time Void Spirit was nerfed. The first came in the December 2 update. Back then the changes were:

  • Dissimilate
    • Damage reduced from 140/220/300/380 to 120/200/280/360
  • Resonant Pulse
    • Cooldown increased from 14 to 16
    • Mana cost increased from 90/100/110/120 to 100/110/120/130
  • Level 15 Talent
    • Reduced from +150 Resonant Pulse Damage to +100 Resonant Pulse Damage

Snapfire

Snapfire, meanwhile, had its Firesnap Cookie tweaked as it now works on rooted targets. However, the hero did undergo changes in a previous update, particularly with Firesnap Cookie and Lil' Shredder. In particular:

  • Lil' Shredder
    • Mana cost increased from 75 to 90
    • Damage reduced from 45/60/75/90 to 40/55/70/85
    • Attack speed slow per stack reduced from 20/25/30/35 to 15/20/25/30
  • Firesnap Cookie
    • Cooldown reduced from 24/22/20/18 to 24/21/18/15
    • Projectile speed increased from 800 to 1000
    • Cast point reduced when used on self from 0.4 to 0.3

During the December 2 update, Snapfire's Lil' Shredder was fixed, particularly its charges not being consumed when Snapfire's passives were disabled.

Neutral Item

One big change with update 7.23 was the introduction of Neutral Item Drops by neutral creeps. You can read more about that here. Given the reception of the Dota 2 community, it didn't come as a surprise that this got tweaked when the first balance patch was released after a few days.

The new Neutral Item Drops have been changed to always drop only three items from its five tiers. The drop rate per item was also changed from 10%/5%/2.5%/1.25%/ to 9%/6%/3%. In addition, the item drops for each tier are no longer be tied to specific time intervals from its initial introduction. Instead, each tier has a start period from when the items start to drop from neutral creeps. The new start periods for each neutral item tier are:

  • Tier 1: 5-minute mark
  • Tier 2: 15-minute mark
  • Tier 3: 25-minute mark
  • Tier 4: 40-minute mark
  • Tier 5: 70-minute mark

The reason for these changes are to make sure that players no longer spend a long amount of time continuously farming neutral creep camps to get as many items as they can.

It goes without saying that everyone should expect some more changes before the DreamLeague Leipzig Major. We’ll see what happens then.
