It seems that Team Secret and Alliance won’t be facing each other, at least for now. The two teams have secured a spot in the Playoffs of the Dota 2 ESL One Germany 2020. Joining them are three other teams which are mudgolems, OG, and Team Liquid. One of the rules of the tournament was that teams that racked up three wins immediately got a spot in the Playoffs.

Two Leaders

Team Secret pretty much breezed their way to the Playoffs, sweeping opponents 2–0. Alliance had it easy for its first match as well. However, Alliance had to work for its next two games, which were against Ninjas in Pyjamas and OG. In both cases, Alliance lost the first game and then secured the victory by winning the next two games.

Three New Spots

OG managed to win its two matches, sweeping both Winstrike and Vikin.gg 2–0 before falling to Alliance 1–2. However, OG had no problems against Yellow Submarine, defeating them 2–0. Team Liquid pretty much had the same situation as OG. Liquid won the first two matches and then got defeated by Secret. They also had no issues facing against 5men.

If anything, the surprise was mudgolems. They first got swept by Liquid and then managed to win their next three matches. The team pretty much swept their opponents 2–0.

Final Three Spots

There’s still three spots left and there’s six teams fighting it out. The matches to determine these slots are all going to be on October 20 and will feature:

  • 5men versus Team Nigma
  • Natus Vincere versus Yellow Submarine
  • Vikin.gg versus Ninjas in Pyjamas

Predictions

So, who do we think are going to make it to the Playoffs? In the first match, we think it’s going to be Nigma. We’re not saying 5men isn’t good, because they are. However, Nigma has a lot to prove right now and in terms of pressure, they have the experience to back it up.

In the second match, we’ll have to go with Yellow Submarine. We’re basing this on their performance in the tournament so far. Unlike Na’Vi, YeS managed to beat Nigma and NiP. They probably would have gotten a spot in the Playoffs if they hadn’t been matched against Secret and OG in their other games.

In the third match, we’ll have to go with Ninjas in Pyjamas. They’ve been doing relatively well in the tournament and we think they’ll manage to get at least one more win.

What about you? Who do you think are going to get the final spots in the Playoffs? Let us know in the comments section below.
